What is good sportsmanship?
Good sportsmanship is when Coaches, Parents and players treat each other with respect.
Playing NFL FLAG Football is not only about winning the game. We feel participants should be learning new skills, meeting friends and learning good sportsmanship. Participants will learn this skill from their coach and parents/guardians.
How to teach good sportsmanship
- Have a positive attitude before and after the game.
- Give your best effort and try to learn something new each practice
- Shake hands/high five with the opposing team after the game.
- Support your team by saying "good try" or "nice run". Never criticize a teammate for trying
- Accept the officials calls and don't argue.
- Had the flag back to the other players or help up a player who has fallen.
- Take pride in winning but don't rub it in.
- Accept a loss without whining or making excuses.
Parent's role in good sportsmanship
- Be a role model
- Keep sideline comments positive and encouraging.
- Don't bad-mouth coaches, officials, or players.
- At the end of the game, don't focus on who won or lost.
- Applaud good plays, no matter who makes them.
- Looks for good examples of sportsmanship with professional athletes and point out to you kids.
